Eleventh annual events will be held across Tennessee
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture is planning three in-person field days in February focused on horse management. The 11th annual Horse Management Field Days will be held regionally across Tennessee, featuring presentations and educational material on a variety of equine-specific topics.
“The Horse Management Field Days are always great events for equine owners to learn hands-on skills they can take home and use immediately,” says Jennie Ivey, associate professor and equine Extension specialist in the UT Department of Animal Science. “The events have grown tremendously, and we hope to welcome even more people to engage with our booth activities and topics this year,” she says.
Adult- and youth-specific sessions will be offered at each location, along with interactive activities. Information will be of interest for equine owners of all expertise levels and useful for all breeds, ages and types of equids.
Presentations will be provided by faculty from the Department of Animal Science, UT Extension, and the UT College of Veterinary Medicine. The topics this year will include biosecurity and updates on the Equine Herpes Virus outbreak, hoof care, equine fitness, feed selection and more. Trending topics in the equine industry also will be discussed.
The events are open to adults and youth of all ages. Pre-registration is available at uthorse.tennessee.edu/horse-management-field-day until February 2 for $15 per person and includes dinner. Late or on-site registration is permitted for $20 per person. Registration fees are non-refundable.
Events will be held both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting. Indoor locations will be used in the event of inclement weather. No rain dates will be scheduled.

- Thursday, February 5, from 5-9 p.m. EST, Brehm Animal Science Arena at the UT Institute of Agriculture campus, 2506 River Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee
- Monday, February 9, from 5-9 p.m. CST, First Farmer’s Co-op, 16219 Highway 22N Lexington, Tennessee
- Wednesday, February 11, from 5-9 p.m. CST, UT-TSU Extension Rutherford County Office, 315 John R Rice Boulevard, Murfreesboro, Tennessee
