Value-Added Education and Information for Producers
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Beef cattle and tobacco producers, along with those interested in growing hemp, should make plans to attend the Tobacco, Beef and More Field Day. This event, hosted by the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, will take place on Thursday, June 27, at the Highland Rim AgResearch and Education Center.
Field day guests can choose two of four tours to complete. A tobacco focuses tour will cover new varieties being developed, foliar diseases, and production of Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco. A beef tour will appeal to producers with sessions on managing herd health, technological advancements in production, and a new forage analysis interpreter.
A third tour option covers commercial hemp production for those interested in the emerging crop, with expert information on hemp agronomics and management. A final tour will give visitors an overview of the resources and research being conducted at the Highland Rim AgResearch and Education Center.
Each tour will feature UTIA experts, UT Extension specialists, and professors. Guests will also have the opportunity to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of exhibitors in a trade show in between tours.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. CDT at the assembly area off Oakland Road, with the first tours departing at 8:45 a.m. The day will conclude with a complimentary lunch at 12:30 p.m. after the final tour.
