Everyone Invited To Visit the Gardens Once Weather Clears
CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — Due to the weather forecast and impending storms predicted for the area, the Fall Gardeners’ Festival at the Plateau AgResearch and Education Center in Crossville scheduled for Tuesday, August 31, has been cancelled. Officials with the University of Tennessee AgResearch as well as the Cumberland County Master Gardeners’ Association say the safety of volunteers, participants, and everyone involved was key in making this decision.
Walt Hitch, director of the Plateau AgResearch Center, says, “The gardens are in excellent condition as many hours were spent by many volunteers in preparation for the event. We invite everyone to tour the gardens over the next few weeks to enjoy the Fall displays.” Hitch goes on to say, “While this cancellation is disappointing, it is nothing in comparison to the devastation to the individuals, families, homes and businesses of many in the path of the hurricane. Please keep these in your thoughts and prayers.”
