KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Over 400 people have viewed the Facebook Live video titled “To Wash or Not to Wash,” produced by University of Tennessee Extension specialists. The video is the first installment of six sessions on best practices for fruit and vegetable producers.
“We want to give producers the opportunity to learn from the comfort of their own home on their own time,” says Annette Wszelaki, UT Extension specialist for commercial vegetable production. “Producers can take a break from the heat, tune in to Facebook Live, and take some time to learn about how to improve their operation.”
The next Facebook Live Field Break will air on Thursday, August 15 at noon EST and last approximately one hour. Wszelaki and Samantha Flowers, internship coordinator and Extension assistant at the East Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center Organic Crops Unit, will discuss postharvest handling tips to give crops the longest shelf-life. The recording will be archived as well, and will be accessible through Facebook for anyone who cannot watch live.
Other upcoming Fruit and Vegetable Field Break webinars include:
September 12 – Irrigation Basics
October 16 – Producing High Quality Compost
November – Keeping Wildlife Out of Your Fields
November, December – Fruit Production
