K-9 Condition Listed as Stable After Being Airlifted From North Carolina

Luca, a patrol K-9 with the Clay County Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina, is in stable condition after undergoing treatment at the College of Veterinary Medicine. The K-9 was transported to UT after accidental exposure to an ozone machine caused severe respiratory distress, making this the first air transport of a K-9 officer in Tennessee.

$34 Million in Relief Funding to Support Tennessee Farmers Impacted by Helene

Approximately $34 million will be split across eight counties in East Tennessee through TDA’s Hurricane Helene Agricultural and Timber Relief Fund. Sarah Orr, director of UT-TSU Extension Cocke County, says this funding will assist farmers impacted by flooding from Hurricane Helene in fall of 2024.
