Statewide theme days invite 4-H members, volunteers, alumni and supporters to celebrate
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee 4-H will celebrate National 4-H Week October 4-10, recognizing a program that serves more than 157,000 youth across Tennessee each year. The annual celebration highlights the mission, accomplishments and people of Tennessee 4-H, the youth development program of University of Tennessee Extension and Tennessee State University Extension.
Tennessee 4-H provides research-based educational experiences that engage youth in hands-on learning, leadership, service, agriculture, science, healthy living and other project areas. Through these experiences, young people gain knowledge and develop skills they can use in school, future careers and their communities while preparing to become capable, responsible and compassionate adults.
Governor Bill Lee has proclaimed October 4-10 as National 4-H Week in Tennessee. The statewide celebration begins Sunday, October 4, with Proclamation Day and continues throughout the week with opportunities to recognize 4-H members, volunteers, families and supporters.
In addition to Proclamation Day, each day of National 4-H Week will feature a different theme:
- Monday, October 5 – Spirit Day: Wear green and show your 4-H pride.
- Tuesday, October 6 – Giving Tuesday: Support Tennessee 4-H through eligible gifts that can be doubled or tripled through matching funds. Gifts can support local counties and programs at tn4hgive.org.
- Wednesday, October 7 – What Does 4-H Mean to You? Day: Share what 4-H means to you and celebrate the impact the program has had on members, alumni and supporters.
- Thursday, October 8 – Thankful Thursday: Recognize the donors, sponsors, volunteers and supporters who help make 4-H opportunities possible.
- Friday, October 9 – Flashback Friday: Celebrate favorite 4-H memories and look back at the people, experiences and traditions that have shaped Tennessee 4-H.
- Saturday, October 10 – Volunteer Appreciation Day: Celebrate the dedicated volunteers who give their time, talents and support to Tennessee 4-H.
