KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Farm Bureau accepted a proposal by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Herbert College of Agriculture to host the next three summers of the Tennessee Leadership Summit—a premier program that exposes high school students to agriculture while developing their leadership skills.

Tennessee Farm Bureau’s Executive Vice President Bryan Wright and Director of Special Programs Dan Strasser came to campus on August 26 to meet with Cassie Johnson, Herbert director of enrollment services, and other university administrators to start planning the next Tennessee Leadership Summit on Rocky Top.

“We are so excited about this partnership with Tennessee Farm Bureau and what this conference can do for students. We believe it has the potential to positively impact the state, the industry and generations of students to come,” said Johnson.

The summit will consist of a variety of activities to expose students to agriculture and natural resources industries, foster leadership development and gain inspiration from high-profile leaders, all while experiencing the beautiful campus of UT Knoxville.

Top university officials like Chancellor Donde Plowman, Senior Vice Chancellor and Senior Vice President Keith Carver, and Dean David White have expressed their staunch support for this initiative.

Hosting the summit is an opportunity to invest in Tennessee youth, while showcasing all that UT Knoxville and the Herbert College of Agriculture offer.
