Browse specialty bulbs perfect for the holidays
JACKSON, Tenn. – More than 400 amaryllis bulbs across 22 varieties will be available for purchase during the annual Amaryllis Sale at University of Tennessee Gardens, Jackson. This free event is open to the public and will take place November 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center in Jackson.
Each bulb is shipped directly from Holland and makes an excellent holiday gift or a beautiful addition to your home throughout the winter months. Attendees can also purchase poppy seeds and small bags of soil to use with their bulbs.
“Amaryllis are commonly associated with the holiday season, featuring large, vibrant flowers that bloom when grown indoors,” says Camille Newsom, curator of UT Gardens, Jackson. “If you’ve never grown these plants before, we will have an information card with everything you need to know to care for them.”
Amaryllis bulbs cost $22 each, including tax. All proceeds benefit the upkeep of UT Gardens, Jackson, and its ongoing mission to provide hundreds of plant varieties for public enjoyment, community education and horticultural research.
A presale for UT Gardens members will take place November 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nonmembers who wish to shop early can join at the presale or online at utgardens.tennessee.edu/support/membership.
