Free Event Will Cover Essential Agricultural Topics
DYERSBURG, Tenn. – University of Tennessee Extension will once again host the West Tennessee Grain and Soybean Producers Conference on February 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dyer County Fairgrounds, located at 296 James H Rice Road in Dyersburg, Tennessee. This free event is open to the public, with registration beginning at 7:45 a.m.
More than half a dozen presentations will take place throughout the day beginning at 9 a.m., covering a variety of agricultural topics including pesticide restrictions, planting date selection, soil health, farm financial management, precision agriculture, sustainability practices and more. Starting at 8:00 a.m., the conference’s trade show, one of the largest in West Tennessee, will feature industry professionals from across the region sharing the latest technological and agricultural developments.
Jake McNeal, corn and soybean Extension specialist, says that the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture’s year-round events are an essential resource for farmers. “Many producers experienced challenging times in 2024 with poor yield and low prices for certain commodities. As growers plan their operations for 2025, it is essential they have the right research to prepare for challenges they might face.”
“We are especially excited to have Mike Pearson, host at RFD-TV, join us at this year’s event to speak on current trends in agriculture,” says Lindsay Stephenson, county director of UT-TSU Extension Haywood County. “Each year, we are able to provide relevant information for farmers across the Mid-South, as well as foster networking between producers, specialists, industry representatives and the countless others who make agriculture possible.”
