UTIA Field Day Celebrates All Things Fall
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture is excited to offer the Fall in the Foothills Field Day experience perfect for family and friends of all ages! Filled with fun and educational activities in celebration of local agriculture, the event will be hosted at the East Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center’s Little River Dairy on October 21, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT.
Enjoy wagon tours, a corn maze, farm equipment displays and opportunities to speak with agriculture experts. Tours of the new robotic milking system, which allows cows to be automatically milked at their discretion, will be available. An exhibit tent featuring a variety of merchandise vendors and displays will be open during the event and pumpkins will be given away to attendees while supplies last. Local food trucks will be on site as well as freshly grilled burgers and hot dogs for sale by the Future Farmers of America.
“The Fall in the Foothills Field Day is a fun and educational event during the golden harvest time of the year,” says Hongwei Xin, dean of UT AgResearch. “In addition to all the fall festivities, attendees will get to learn about how some of our food is being produced, and what our scientists and allied industries are doing to feed the world while protecting the planet.”
Pre-registration for the event is available for $10 through October 18 at tiny.utk.edu/fallinthefoothills. On-site registration is also available for $15 (cash only). Those under five years of age can attend the event for free.
