Master Beef Producer Certification Still to be Held October 18
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The annual Northeast Tennessee Beef Expo presented by the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture is still scheduled for October 17, 2024; however, due to the ongoing flood relief and disaster assistance, the UT Institute of Agriculture is announcing a change to the event venue.
The Expo will be held at the Clyde Austin 4-H Center located at 214 4-H Lane, in Greeneville. For those familiar with the area, this is just a short distance away from the original venue, the Northeast Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center.
The expo will feature experts from UT Extension, UT AgResearch and other industry partners who will provide beef producers with information on the latest research and practices in beef production.
Nationally recognized speaker, Paige Pratt, and her husband, Jason, of Pratt Cattle Company will be the guest speakers. They will utilize their experiences as business owners and Angus cattle producers to discuss how to create cows that sustain a herd for the long term.
Topics of interest to beef producers during the expo programs include:
- Fire Ants in Pastures
- Controlling Callery Pear, Locusts and Brambles
- Hayfield Management: Johnsongrass Control and Forage Quality
- How to Maintain a 12-month Calving Interval from the Cow and Bull Perspective
