Researchers at UTIA are working with Washington State University and Montana State University to explore and verify biodegradable plastic mulches’ benefits and long-term impacts on soil, crop quality and yield.
A recent report from the SOAR foundation featured several UTIA researchers. The report, titled Innovation to Profit, highlights work led by Doug Hayes (BESS), Annette Wszelaki (Plant Sciences), and Jennifer DeBruyn (BESS) to improve the biodegradability of plastic mulches (page 40).
UTIA is also a collaborator on the “Boosting Broccoli” project led by Cornell University (page 20).
