Shop Hundreds of High-Performing Selections at Annual Event

JACKSON, Tenn. – Warmer weather is right around the corner, and so is one of Tennessee’s most anticipated events for home gardeners. Mark your calendars for the 2025 Spring Plant Sale scheduled for May 2 and 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Hosted by University of Tennessee Gardens, Jackson, and Madison County Master Gardeners, the sale will feature more than 500 plant varieties including annuals, perennials, trees, conifers, shrubs, succulents, houseplants, vegetables, herbs and more.

“For many shoppers, this sale is the unofficial start to the growing season,” says Jason Reeves, curator of UT Gardens, Jackson. “We’re very excited about our many new shrubs, including Flowerfull® Smooth Hydrangea, Violet Mist® Chastetree, Queen Bee® Chastetree and Trippy Pink® Butterfly Bush. We’ve trialed these on the grounds for the past few years, and you don’t want to miss the chance to add them to your collection.”

Mary Glenys Espey, horticulture Extension agent at UT-TSU Extension Madison County, says Master Gardeners will be onsite both days to help attendees make selections. “We’re always happy to offer cultivar suggestions and caretaking tips for your individual gardening needs. We want everyone to walk away feeling confident and excited about what they’re growing in 2025.”

UT Gardens, Jackson, is part of the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center, located at 605 Airways Boulevard in Jackson, Tennessee. The Madison County Master Gardeners sale will take place inside the main building, while the UT Gardens, Jackson, sale will be located outside. Both will accept cash, card and check, with a small fee incurred for card purchases at the Madison County Master Gardeners sale.
