“With many producers facing economic uncertainty, research-based information is essential to sustaining successful agricultural systems,” says Jason Williams, interim director of the AgResearch and Education Center at Milan. “These tours highlight agronomic practices, market trends, evolving legislation and the latest technological innovations. This is a great opportunity to learn directly from leading experts.”
Presentations and the agricultural trade show will begin at 8 a.m., with the final tour starting at 11 a.m. All tours will begin in the sheds near the lake, rather than under tents on the main lawn. Additional activities, including traditional skills demonstrations and the antique tractor show, will take place next to the West Tennessee Agricultural Museum. Demonstrations of aerial drones and manned aircraft will be held at 12:30 p.m. to simulate real-world pesticide applications.
The Milan No-Till Field Day began in 1981 to demonstrate the benefits of no-till farming over traditional tillage. Held every other year, the event continues to attract thousands of attendees from across the nation who are interested in improving soil conservation and agricultural production. Pesticide recertification points will be available.
