2025 Grow What You Know Conference Will Empower Women in Agriculture

Event to Offer Presentations, Workshops and Trade Show

MARTIN, Tenn. – Tennessee agriculture remains a male-dominated industry, with women making up approximately 36% of farmers in the state, according to the USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. To better support farmers of all backgrounds and skill levels, Tennessee AgrAbility is hosting the Grow What You Know conference on April 12, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public and will be held at the University of Tennessee at Martin’s Vet Tech Facility.

Featuring research-based presentations, hands-on workshops and a trade show, Grow What You Know will cover essential agricultural topics such as assistive technology tools, production strategies, soil health, livestock management, leadership development, horticulture and more. Led by faculty and staff from various industries, the conference will highlight the vital role of women in agriculture and equip attendees with the knowledge and resources to succeed.

“Whether you are a producer, agribusiness professional, industry stakeholder, student or someone who simply wants to learn more about farming, you are invited to this day of education and networking,” says Joetta White, event coordinator and University of Tennessee Extension specialist with Tennessee AgrAbility. “Together, we can foster success for producers of all backgrounds across our state and beyond.”

Grow What You Know is hosted by Tennessee AgrAbility, the Herbert College of Agriculture and the UT Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications, along with community partners including Sigma Alpha sorority and Gibson County Farm Bureau Women. Tennessee AgrAbility is a collaboration between University of Tennessee Extension, Tennessee State University Extension, the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture and the STAR Center.
