Workshops Will Be Held in Murfreesboro, Camden and Greeneville in October

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Farmers who plan to apply for grants, cost-share programs and loans to support their value-added enterprises are welcome to attend workshops held across the state in October by the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture’s Center for Profitable Agriculture.

“Funding Opportunities for Tennessee Value-Added Producers: Grants, Cost-Share Programs and Loans” will be conducted in three workshops:

  • October 21, in Murfreesboro
  • October 22, in Camden
  • October 28, in Greeneville

“These workshops have proven to be beneficial for value-added producers, giving them the opportunity to learn more about grant and loan requirements and what is needed to prepare an application that has a greater chance of approval for funding,” said Troy Dugger, program coordinator with the UT Center for Profitable Agriculture.

These in-person workshops are designed to help producers with value-added enterprises develop strong applications that can help them enter value-added activities related to processing and marketing new products. Grants may be used for planning activities, such as a feasibility study, business or marketing plan, or for working capital expenses related to producing and marketing a value-added agricultural product.

Register online for the workshops at tiny.utk.edu/CPA2025

Workshops will begin at 10 a.m. local time and conclude at 3 p.m., with lunch provided. There is a registration fee of $20 per person, and registration must be completed at least five days prior to the workshop date.

Attendance at one of the three meetings will fulfill a Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP) special requirement in the Value-Added Producer Diversification Sector in Application B.

More information about the workshops is available on the Center for Profitable Agriculture website.
